Why do I need contents insurance?
As a Council tenant, it’s important to understand that while Ipswich Borough Council insures the building and any installations (like kitchens and bathrooms) provided by us, we do not cover the contents of your home. This means that if your furniture, personal belongings, or decorations are damaged or stolen, the Council’s insurance will not cover these losses.
Why should you get contents insurance?
Many tenants only realize the importance of contents insurance after experiencing damage, such as from fire, theft, vandalism, or water leaks. Protecting your belongings with insurance ensures that you’re covered for unexpected events and can help you avoid significant financial loss.
Special contents insurance scheme
To make it easier for you to insure your belongings, we offer a special contents insurance scheme in partnership with Royal & Sun Alliance (RSA) Insurance PLC. This scheme is exclusively available to Council tenants.
